In terms of P3 I like the ones I can have social links with. Though you could almost argue as that being the point, kinda got a group of misfits feel from it." I didn't dislike the P4 cast, I just wasn't as blown away as I thought I'd be, I loved a few of them and disliked none of them but still. For P5 I could buy Makoto and Ann, Ryuji and Ann, but that's about it. But Naoto, Kanji, and Rise? Doesn't feel like they're included. I can see Chie, Youske, Teddie, and Yukiko hanging out with eachother pretty easily. But I don't feel like that extends to all of them. "I actually mostly agree with the idea of your party members in P4 being friends with eachother and not just you. In regards to interactions outside of Phantom Thieves I'm gonna copy and paste something I said to someone else with a similar statement. I mentioned this in another comment but I felt like there weren't too many events but again, that could be because I played normal P4, not golden. Some of them even felt really shallow to me, such as Ai's, I don't hate her but I could see what kind of person she was from the start. In P4 I also though it was really predictable, almost everyone had some sort of quirk that was obvious from the beginning with the exception of a few. But at least in 5 you got to see the "bad person" in an exposed way. I mean sure, the social links in 5 were pretty formulaic in that around rank 8 you had to go to Mementos and fight someone, that's true. They're alot more trope-y and one dimensional than P4 and 5 imo) (Also if you didnt like the P4 cast, you really might not like the P3 cast. But Persona 4 is still just as good but in different reasons. Persona 5 might be one of my favorite games of all time. But it feels less natural when you're hanging out with 16 people and you can sorta tell what happens based on the context of the game. That's great, dandy, and fantastic and all. You hit rank 8, go to Mementos, and then you fix everything. And most links had a problem that had to be over come because some asshole was ruining someone else's shit. I think my biggest problems with Persona 5's social links in general too was that it was often formulaic. They were memorable because it genuinely felt like being a high school student. P4 had plenty of events, and many of them just seemed really fun, or anime i guess (bathhouse scene) to sorta be around. They were only the Phantom thieves when the time called for it, and there weren't as many interactions of the cast hanging out outside of battling or social links. And while P5 has elements of it, it feels as if they were less of a group of friends and just partners to one another. I really connected with alot of the non party member social links, and many of them involved a really interesting build up of who these people were and how they grew from the experiences that they had.Īside from that, P4's party cast (had some of the strongest links, Kanji for example, Yukiko and Chie's is p gud too) also felt like a genuine group of friends. Coming to terms with the end of life, mending a broken father who's lost his wife and can't connect to his kid, mending a lonely 8 year old who's lost her mother, helping someone come to terms with the loss of his sister, and so on. Because unlike P3's Social links, P4 really felt as if there were people with genuine problems.
